Tips & Tricks
- During purchase of your furniture inspect the box for any damage. Always pick up a "nice box".
- Before you assemble, lay box on the floor and open along the seams. Avoid using a knife where possible as this can score the goods.
- Place goods so that you can identify and quality control all the different parts easily and do exactly the same with the fixings.
- Make sure that you have enough room to work comfortably around your product.
- Construct your product in the room to which it is finally being placed as this saves the possibility of damage to the item of furniture and your home.
- Take time to look at pictures and instructions very carefully as a small dot can indicate a hole which may be the only difference between two otherwise identical pieces.
- Possibly the biggest item that you may consider for self assembly is a wardrobe combination. If you have chosen a frame of 236cms in height then make sure you measure your floor to ceiling height. If your measurements are close to 236cms then take several measurements along "the run".
- If you have chosen Pax sliding panelled doors that require assembly then do these first and place to one side otherwise you may find that once you have built the frame the reduced room is too small to assemble the doors.
- If you are building wardrobe frames while they are laying on the floor you need to make sure that you have enough overhead clearance in which to stand them upright.
- Remember, right tools for the right job. If your wardrobes require assembling vertically then get someone to help.
The above points may seem excessive but do you really want to 95% finish the assembly of a product to find something missing, damaged or that you are unable to stand the item vertically upright because your ceiling is too low.
